About Me

I acknowledge the Traditional Owners, the Ugarapul and Yuggera peoples, of the land on which I live and work.  I pay my deepest respect to Elders past, present and continuing.

Living in a country town in the lovely Scenic Rim in south east Queensland, with easy access to Brisbane,  gives me the best of city and country living. Enjoying setting up my new home – pottering in the garden planting things and cutting things down. Putting in a vegie patch and trying to grow lots of flowers. Watching the birds, bees and other wildlife enjoying the garden is always a thrill.

I have many years of experience in writing, rewriting and editing text for individuals and companies. Keen reader, traveller, writer and wildlife watcher. Hopeful photographer. Food, cooking and writing have been important in my life for both leisure and work. Lover of learning and sharing knowledge.

Curious about many things, so much to learn.  I’m fascinated by words and the way they work. Love all music and especially classical. Passionate about theatre and all the arts. I've written under the name of Julie Massey and a couple of other psuedonyms that I'll talk about later!

As a long time admirer of Nöel Coward I have recently published a book Food and Nöel Coward about his relationship with food and how it features in his works. My collection of vintage cookbooks is extensive and a joy to dip into; not just for the recipes.

I have been lucky enough to have travelled extensively for work, visiting fabulous locations worldwide – what an experience, most of it never to be repeated.

I enjoy exploring native Australian foods, experimenting and learning from bush tucker mates.

I share the house with a very large, bossy, opinionated ginger cat – Tiggomy.
