It was a dream that was made reality with the help of a team of actors and crew. It’s over but the feeling will remain forever. A Noël Coward play on stage at Boonah Cultural Centre!
Twice weekly rehearsals, collecting props, designing the set. Cast organising costumes, spending hours learning lines and attending rehearsals. Foley artist and lighting team creating sound and lighting effects. It takes a village, or at least a small town, to produce a play of this size. Months of effort go into producing a couple of performances. Time away or isolated from family and friends. Is it worth it?

YES! Being part of a group such as The Boonah Playmakers is much more than being on stage entertaining an audience. It’s about teamwork and trust. It’s about making friends, laughing at in-jokes, sharing angst and joy. It’s about establishing a small community within the larger community.

It’s about learning. Not just learning lines but relearning about humanity, about relationships and personalities.

We will be going on to different productions soon for the Boonah Arts Festival. Then who knows, will we attempt another stage play? Watch this space.
